Natural Resources

Lunenburg County is comprised of 282,880 acres. 211,760 are comprised of forestland. Most of the woodland is made up of hardwoods and pine, while a large portion of the harvested land is planted with loblolly pine.

The County is divided by two watersheds, the South Meherrin River Basin and the Nottoway River Basin. Wells provide the main supply of domestic water needs of the county’s rural residents. Streams provide the large supply needed for the towns of Victoria and Kenbridge and other industrial uses.
